NEW YORK — Tradeweb Markets announced an agreement to acquire electronic credit-trading marketplace Trumid for approximately $1.97 billion. The consideration consists of $1.888 billion in cash and $82 million in equity, according to the announcement. Closing is expected in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and customary conditions.

Trumid operates an electronic marketplace for credit trading. Bringing the platform into Tradeweb would broaden Tradeweb’s existing fixed-income and credit-market technology, potentially giving dealers and investors more connected workflows for discovering liquidity, executing trades and managing information.

The strategic rationale is tied to the structure of credit markets, where liquidity can be fragmented across dealers, asset managers, protocols and voice workflows. A larger electronic marketplace may improve access and data, but integration also raises questions about market-structure neutrality, customer overlap, data rights and how the two businesses will preserve participation from competing institutions.

The transaction is announced, not closed. Tradeweb has not published a timetable for product integration or a separate forecast for Trumid’s contribution. The $1.97 billion figure is transaction consideration negotiated by the parties, not a public-market valuation of an independently traded Trumid.
