Corrections Policy

How we handle errors, what we disclose when we fix one, and how to tell us we got something wrong.

Last updated August 24, 2026

We publish quickly about technical subjects, so we will sometimes be wrong. What matters is what happens next.

How to report an error

Email corrections@marketfinancenews.example with the article headline, the specific passage at issue and, where possible, the source that contradicts it. Corrections requests are read by an editor, not by the article’s author.

What we do

  • Correction — a material error of fact. We fix the text and append a dated note at the foot of the article stating what was wrong and what it now says.
  • Clarification — language that was accurate but open to being misread. We revise it and note the change.
  • Update — new developments in a running story. We add the new material with a timestamp; an update is not a correction and is not labeled as one.

We do not quietly rewrite a published article to erase a mistake. If the substance of a story changes, the record shows that it changed.

Serious errors

Where an error is severe enough to undermine the premise of an article, we retract it. A retracted article stays online with a prominent notice explaining what was wrong, because removing it would leave every existing link to it unexplained.

Sponsored content

Sponsored articles are subject to this policy. An advertiser may request a correction of fact; an advertiser may not request the removal of accurate context, of a disclosure, or of a statement noting that a figure is company-reported and unverified.
