LONDON — London Stock Exchange Group announced on Oct. 22, 2026 that it had agreed to acquire Octus, a provider of credit intelligence, data and workflow tools, for $3.535 billion in cash. LSEG said it expects the transaction to close in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approval.

Octus provides data and analytics used by credit-market participants to assess companies, debt and risk. LSEG plans to integrate the business into its Data & Analytics division, expanding a unit that already serves financial institutions with market data, benchmarks, indexes and workflow software.

The deal is a bet that credit intelligence can become more valuable when combined with a broader financial-data platform. Customers may benefit from fewer handoffs between research, risk and workflow tools, but integration will matter: data definitions, licensing rights, update frequency and model transparency all affect whether an acquisition produces better decisions or merely a larger product catalog.

LSEG said Octus founder Kent Collier will continue to lead the business. The transaction will be financed through external debt, and it is not yet closed; the announced price is a deal consideration, not a measure of Octus’s standalone public-market value.
