Cross River Parent CRB Group to Acquire Accrue for Wallet and Loyalty Technology
The transaction would bring Accrue’s branded wallet, stored-value and rewards infrastructure into Cross River’s embedded-finance platform; closing remains subject to customary conditions.

FORT LEE, N.J. — CRB Group, the parent company of Cross River Bank, agreed on Oct. 20, 2026 to acquire Accrue, a fintech whose technology supports branded wallets, stored value and loyalty rewards. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions; the companies did not announce that it had closed.
Cross River said it plans to integrate Accrue’s technology into its embedded-finance infrastructure. That would add a consumer-facing wallet and rewards layer to the bank’s existing capabilities around payments, cards, lending and accounts, giving brands another way to place financial tools inside their own customer experiences.
Accrue founder and CEO Michael Hershfield is expected to join Cross River to help build out the embedded-finance business after the transaction closes. The announcement did not disclose financial terms, customer counts or a timetable for integration.
The strategic logic is straightforward, but wallet programs carry operational responsibilities beyond the interface: stored-value safeguarding, transaction monitoring, dispute handling, loyalty accounting and partner-bank oversight all matter. Until closing and integration details are published, the deal is a proposed expansion of Cross River’s platform rather than a newly available wallet product.
