SAN FRANCISCO — Visa has moved stablecoin-enabled prefunding for Visa Direct into commercial production, with Inyo Global as the first enabler to integrate the capability through its APIs. The announcement was made Oct. 15, 2026. It lets fintechs and money transmitters use USDC to prefund cross-border payouts while recipients continue to receive funds through the existing Visa Direct experience.

The change is on the funding side, not the recipient side. A money-movement company can hold or source USDC and use it to fund a payout near real time, while Visa’s network and local payout partners continue to handle delivery in the destination currency. That distinction makes the feature more practical for remittances and disbursements than a consumer-facing crypto checkout product.

For Visa, stablecoin prefunding is a way to reduce the timing and liquidity friction around international payouts without requiring every recipient to own a digital asset. For Inyo, the API creates a bridge between blockchain-based treasury and the regulated payout infrastructure its customers already use.

The launch does not mean every corridor, currency or money transmitter is immediately eligible. Access depends on the program, jurisdictions, compliance controls and liquidity arrangements of the participating companies. Visa and Inyo have not published a full corridor list or commercial pricing, so the production announcement establishes availability rather than a universal replacement for conventional prefunding.
