SAN JOSE, Calif. — Impesa, a San Jose-based fintech focused on corporate payment controls, has raised $30 million in venture capital to expand its software across Central and South America. The company said the funding will support growth for Monibyte, its platform for managing corporate credit and debit card usage, setting spending controls and automating financial safeguards against fraud.

Monibyte sits between a company’s card program and its employees or customers. Businesses can use it to set restrictions on where and how cards are used, monitor transactions and automate controls intended to reduce unauthorized spending. Impesa describes the product as a B2B2C platform because financial institutions and businesses can deploy those controls to their own cardholders rather than only using the software for internal expense management.

The fundraising arrives as corporate card platforms in Latin America are moving beyond issuance. The first wave competed on giving businesses easier access to cards; the more durable product opportunity is the control layer around those cards, where transaction rules, fraud monitoring and reconciliation can reduce losses and administrative work. Impesa’s expansion thesis depends on selling that infrastructure through regional financial institutions as well as directly to businesses.

Impesa has not disclosed a detailed revenue breakdown, customer count or independently measured fraud-loss reduction tied to the new round. The $30 million therefore signals investor backing for the category and the company’s expansion plan, but does not by itself establish how Monibyte performs against larger card-issuer and expense-management platforms in the markets it is entering.
