HL Hunt Personal Credit Builder Uses a Savings-Secured Loan to Report Monthly Payments
HL Hunt Financial sponsored this Company Spotlight on Personal Credit Builder, a savings-secured installment loan that the company says reports monthly to Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.

SPONSORED CONTENT — HL Hunt Financial’s Personal Credit Builder is a savings-secured installment loan. The product page describes a structure in which the loan proceeds are held in an account the borrower cannot immediately spend while the borrower makes scheduled payments. HL Hunt says those payments are reported monthly to Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.
That structure is different from an unsecured personal loan. The borrower’s own funds secure the account, so the product is primarily designed to create a reported installment-loan history rather than provide spendable cash. A borrower considering it should compare the total fees, term, release of funds and consequences of early cancellation with other credit-builder loans.
HL Hunt says underwriting uses Hunt Score, its in-house AI model. The company publishes example score outcomes on its site, but it has not published independent verification of those outcomes or of Hunt Score’s fairness and accuracy. Example results should therefore be treated as company-reported illustrations, not a forecast for every borrower.
The product’s value depends on accurate furnishing as much as on the loan structure. Consumers should confirm the reporting cadence, which bureaus receive the data, how disputes are handled, what happens after payoff or cancellation, and whether the account’s costs are reasonable for the credit history it is intended to build.
