Anchorage Digital Picks LayerZero to Make Its Bank-Issued Stablecoins Move Across Chains

Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A. has selected LayerZero's cross-chain messaging standard as the interoperability layer for stablecoins it issues, starting with Tether's USAT, with Western Union's USDPT, OSL Group's USDGO and Falcon Finance's fUSD expected to gain the same capability over time.

STAFF REPORT — Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A. said it has selected LayerZero, which provides a widely used cross-chain messaging standard called the Omnichain Fungible Token (OFT) standard, as the interoperability partner for stablecoins it issues as a federally chartered digital-asset bank.

The arrangement is designed to let stablecoins issued through Anchorage move across different blockchain networks without needing a separate wrapped or bridged version on each chain — a persistent friction point in the stablecoin market, where a token issued natively on one chain historically has needed custom bridging infrastructure to function elsewhere. Tether's USAT was named as the first token live with LayerZero interoperability under the arrangement.

Anchorage said other stablecoins it issues — including Western Union's USDPT, OSL Group's USDGO, and Falcon Finance's fUSD — are expected to gain the same LayerZero-based cross-chain functionality over time, though the company has not published specific activation dates for those additional routes.

Anchorage Digital holds one of the few federal banking charters granted specifically for digital-asset custody and issuance, a status that has made it a preferred issuing partner for non-bank companies — including a payments company, a commodities trading firm, and a crypto-native lender, in the cases named above — that want to launch a stablecoin under bank-level regulatory oversight without becoming a bank themselves.
