AMSTERDAM — Adyen completed its acquisition of Orb on July 1, 2026, after receiving the required regulatory approvals. The payments company agreed to pay $335 million for the enterprise billing platform, using available cash resources; Orb’s co-founders also agreed to reinvest part of their proceeds into Adyen ordinary shares.

Orb provides billing infrastructure for companies that charge by usage, subscription, seats or other metered measures. Bringing that capability into Adyen expands the company’s reach from accepting and moving payments toward helping merchants define what they bill, calculate the amount and connect the invoice to payment collection.

The strategic appeal is clearest for enterprise software companies, where billing logic can be as complex as the payment itself. A more integrated stack could reduce the handoffs between product usage data, invoice generation, tax and payment recovery. It also creates a larger integration surface: merchants will need confidence that billing changes, failed payments and refunds reconcile correctly across systems.

Orb continues to serve customers as Adyen works toward integration. The acquisition is complete, but Adyen has not said that every Orb capability is already embedded in Adyen’s core products or published a combined revenue contribution. The immediate development is therefore a completed infrastructure acquisition, not an instant change to all Adyen merchant accounts.
